Vascular Health Screening at Mercy's Plumb Heart Center

Vascular disease can cause serious complications.

Vascular disease is a common health issue in the United States affecting millions of people. Many people will not have symptoms until it has progressed and causes complications.

Vascular disease affects the blood vessels and disrupts the normal flow of blood throughout the body; it can lead to a variety of conditions, potentially leading to serious health complications including skin ulcers, aneurysm and stroke

Early detection is key.

The earlier vascular disease is diagnosed, the better chance that conservative treatments will be successful.

Risk Factors

Risk factors for vascular disease include:

  • Diabetes
  • Age (50+)
  • Overweight
  • History of smoking
  • History of blood clots
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Family history of vascular disease

If you have one or more risk factors for vascular disease, you may want to consider a Vascular Health Screening at Mercy.

Vascular Health Screening

Mercy’s Vascular Health Screening consists of three non-invasive tests that are proven to be safe and effective at detecting vascular disease:

  • Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) screening
  • Abdominal aortic screening
  • Carotid screening

The screening will take about an hour and results will be shared with you and your primary care provider (PCP).

Cost & Insurance Coverage

The Vascular Health Screening is $90. Most insurance plans will not cover the cost of a Vascular Health Screening.

Payment for the screening will be due at the time of scheduling.
